Polka's On The Radio

The Polka Club sponsors the following Polka local radio programming on Saturday and Sunday each week, as part of our charter to promote the growth and acceptance of polka music. Of the stations listed, only WEW has streaming audio.  You can also hear polkas http://247polkaheaven.com/ streaming live 24 hours a day from your computer. 

Here are our club member DJ's that put on the shows and a little information about them and how they got started.

WHCO 1230 AM - Polka Party

Al and Barb Dreas.  Al has been a DJ for 32 years.  He originally started advertizing his business (Electrical and Air Conditioning Supply) on a Centralia IL station.  He didn't care for the music so he decided to do his own show.  His show was successful and 12 years ago he moved the show to WHCO out of Sparta, IL.  He completed a record 1000 broadcasts in 1994.  He would like to complete another 6 years before he passes the show to someone else.

WEW 770 AM -Polka Celebration

Debbie and Joe Wondolowski- co-hosts of Polka Celebration, 770 AM WEW, began broadcasting in February, 1987. Originally, they were on KSTL 690 AM, in St. Louis. MO. After the station was sold, they moved to a station  in Highland, IL. They moved once again and are now on WEW 770AM. Their show is on every Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. They play all of your favorite polkas, waltzes, and obereks. WEW 770 AM - Polish Hour Sunday's 3-4PM and Polka Plus from 4-5PM

Anthony Kaminski - has been the top dog on Polka Plus since Feb 14, 1994. Anthony began his career as a DJ by sitting in for Anthony Geppert in the 70's. Although Anthony grew up in the era of Rock and Roll, he found that polkas and waltzes opened up another vista for him. Anthony has added many new things to Polka Plus since it's inception that includes inviting special guests to co-host the program. Polka Plus offers a wide variety of Eastern European music and Anthony welcomes special requests during his live show. Please call 314-969-7700 and make your request on the air live.
