International Folk Dancing in Topeka
Saturdays
Bob Shapiro and Elaine O'Gara will lead International Folk dancing from 7:00 to 9:00 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1821 SW 37th St., Topeka, KS.
No experience or partners needed. All ages welcome. Most dances will be easy, but other dances can also be done if other experienced dancers participate. We'll be starting with (6/2001) primarily Balkan and Israeli dances, but if we get enough balance to do couple dances, we will also hit the western European countries, with a few dances from the rest of the world.
$2.00 donation suggested to help the church defray expenses.

Greek Dancing
Most Sundays

Greek line & circle folk dances to recorded music, with occasional singing & playing of instruments by participants. Most Sunday evenings from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 1755 Des Peres Road (Go to 270 and Manchester and Des Peres Road South.)
Extra: For those of you craving good Greek taverna dancing, keep an eye on the Majestic Restaurant in the Central West End at Laclede and Euclid. Every so often on a Saturday night, a wonderful bouzouki band comes over from Illinois to play. Of course, this means that lots of spontaneous Greek line and circle dances take place. In true Mediterranean style, they won't be pinned down to a schedule, but it's worth it to keep checking.
Call Dean Bellos, 314-351-3302 for more information.
