Mendocino Sufi Camp
Mendocino Sufi Camp, a week-long community camp honoring awakening in all spiritual traditions, is held every July at Mendocino Woodlands State Park in Northern California. We hold a universalist world view, based on the teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan and Murshid Samuel Lewis, which sees and honors the truth in all religions and spiritual traditions, known and unknown. The Sufi’s house of worship is the human heart, wherein dwells the Divine Beloved; Sufism is the message of love, harmony, and beauty. There is no compulsion, no dogma on the Sufi path. Rather, the Sufi’s aim is to remember the Divine in all aspects of life and serve humanity with love and compassion.
A typical day at Sufi camp includes opportunities for esoteric studies, meditation, yoga, Dances of Universal Peace, zikr, music, sumptuous meals, and general celebrations of life and community.

Big Muddy Blues Fest, Lalcede's Landing, Guy Forsyth Band
Hailing all the way from Austin, Texas, the Guy Forsyth Band will be making its way up to St. Louis very soon!
Big Muddy Blues Festival is hosting Guy and company on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 3:00pm.
It’s been a long and dusty, winding road for Austin singer/songwriter Guy Forsyth that’s lead to a recent surge in praise over his dazzling live shows and his rich Americana roots sound. Forsyth (vocals, acoustic, electric, & slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele, singing saw), along with Will Landin (bass/tuba) and Rob Hooper (drums/Cajon), bring a unique mixture of styles such as folk, rock, country, and Tin Pan Alley to create a sound that’s as heterogeneous, raw and compelling as America itself. You’ll hear powerhouse vocals deliver energetic yarns about love, the government and the apocalypse, to name a few, as Forsyth and company squeeze everything they have into each song and rarely come up for air.

Dancing will be taken to new heights on September 27 as Grand Center produces its second annual "Dancing in the Street" festival. Serving as a celebration for the opening of the fall arts season, Grand Center’s “Dancing in the Street” festival will be filled with juried performances from approximately 45 dance companies consisting of more than 570 dancers performing throughout the district on four outdoor stages. In addition, the UK group Neighbourhood Watch Stilts International (NWSI) will headline. The event will take place from noon to 9 p.m. and is free to the public.

Neighborhood Watch Stilts International (NWSI) from New Castle Upon Tyne, England – a first to St. Louis. NWIS’s amazing stilt-walkers defy gravity as their all-enveloping textile costumes continually evolve into new shapes as they create a nonverbal sculptural ballet. In addition, NWSI is bringing five of their “Les Oiseaux de Lux” monochromatic bird costumes and stilt performers, who have dazzled audiences in more than 36 countries around the world. With their fantastic costumes and enchanting ever changing performances that defy description, NWSI performances have been described as “stunning spectators with their extraordinary explosion of color and movement.”
