American Recorder Society Festival and Conference
The American Recorder Society is celebrating 70 years by hosting a festival and conference at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
Enjoy a wide variety of session topics including recorder technique, pedagogy, introductions to Orff, Suzuki and Flutes and Drums Around the World methods, improvisation, roundtable discussions, coached playing sessions of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, world and contemporary repertoire, masterclasses for advanced and intermediate players. Feast your ears on mini-concerts by the next generation of professionals, and evening concerts by Marion Verbruggen and the Farallon Recorder Quartet. Try out instruments, find new music and more at our exhibition. One-day passes are available. Register by May 1 for early-bird discount.

Grand Center's 3rd Annual "Dancing in the Street" Festival
Grand Center celebrates the opening of the 2009-2010 Fall Arts Season and the art of dance with their 3rd annual “Dancing in the Street” Festival. On September 26, 2009 from 1pm to 9pm in Grand Center there will be more than 50 dance organizations and nearly 700 dancers performing Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, Bhartantyan Indian, Clog, Irish, Modern, Belly, Salsa, Jazz, Contra and much more. There will also be choreographed dances on and off the four performance stages, as well as in mystery spaces and locations, group dance instructions, dance bands, food, festivities, and great fun for all ages, and it’s free!
