| Dec 1 | Irish Musicians Bring Celtic Soul to St. Louis World renowned vocalists from Ireland, Noirin Ni Riain, Owen O'Suilleabhain and Moley O'Suilleabhain (aka Size2shoes, the biggest upcoming act in the Irish acoustic scene) and A.M.E.N. are coming to St. Louis. This Celtic Soul Experience will feature selections in the ancient Irish style, sacred songs, traditional tunes and inspirational pop. Special guest Margaret Waddell will open the show, which will raise money for Joplin Storm Recovery. Concert: Thursday, December 1, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Abbey/The Priory. The weekend following the concert, the artists will join Kimberly Schneider, M.Ed., J.D., LPC to present a mini-retreat on Celtic Spirituality at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in University City. | Feb 18 | Mississippi Thespians Civil War Ball Main fund raiser for the Mississippi Thesipians (a youth oriented Civil War re-enactors group with adult support). Money raised used to promote awareness of importance of Civil War to America's history and for a general scholarship. Period attire is encouraged but not required. Location is Lippincott Hall at the IL Veterans Home in Quincy, IL from seven to ten pm. This year's period correct musicians will be RaluGerri. The dance instructor/caller is the reknowed Deborah Hyland. Cost is $10 each for adults, $5 for 18 and under. | Aug 10 - 13 | 2nd Annual Ancestral Drum & Dance Festival in Friendship, IN JOIN US for a weekend long multi-cultural arts and heritage festival filled with laughter, chanting, drumming, camaraderie, dancing, fire performance, workshops, entertainment and so much more the whole family will enjoy! The event is held in scenic and hospitable Friendship, IN at the Old Mill Campground which features electric, showers, coinop laundry, indoor and outdoor restroom facilities, some indoor workshop space, fishing (lic. req), next door muzzle-loader range, and many more amenities to enjoy. Limited cell signal and wifi MAY be available, but is not guaranteed. Be sure to watch the website for more information. Vendors, as well as presenters and performers, are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible to reserve your spaces. We ARE limiting space this year to keep everything organized! Last year was a captivating experience with many middle eastern dancers, presenters, and musicians along with several other cultures represented. This year we hope to build on that; and have as many cultures present to share dance, music, crafts, workshops and more as can be fit into the weekend without being to 'cramped' and invite everyone to help in recommending their favorites to join us!
